KATI WIESMAN
Kati Wiesman, like most kids growing up on Wisconsin Dairy Farms, does some of the daily chores. But, she doesn’t ride on the tractor anymore. Just days before Halloween in 1992, Kati, then five years old, fell from her father’s tractor while it was in reverse and was run over by the front wheel…leaving her skull in pieces.
After being rushed to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Kati was immediately taken to the operating room. There, she underwent surgery to remove pieces of her skull plate to provide an outlet for the brain swelling. Physicians told her parents to expect the worse.

After surgery Kati was transferred to the hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit. Her parents prayed that their little girl would fight back. And like the champion she is, Kati did fight back. But although Kati had regained consciousness, it was still a rough road ahead. She had to undergo intense physical, occupational and speech therapy. She also required additional surgery to her skull. She was basically a newborn child having to learn to swallow, eat, talk and walk all over again. After being in the hospital for 4½ months, Kati was finally able to go home.
Many years later, Kati still loves to spend time on the family farm with her parents and her older, Tracy. She loves to read attends school in Stratford. Kati is a fighter, a winner and a champion!
