Radiothon raises $90,183 for Children’s Miracle Network
September 11 – 13, 2013
A total of $90,183 was raised during the 2013 Y106 Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon, held September 11 to 13 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital. This was the 11th year for the radiothon, which was hosted by Y106 radio announcers Pat and AJ Clark and RW Smith. During the event, hosts shared stories of and did live interviews with children and families who have been helped through the Children’s Miracle Network. For Pat, hosting the annual event has been a labor of love. “Watching how our listening family supports their local community is beyond touching,” he said. “The stories of the challenges these brave children and their families face, and how CMN has made those challenges a little easier, makes it all a little more worthwhile. I am so proud to be able to facilitate these generous donations.” The radiothon is an excellent opportunity to share the CMN story, said Patti Shafto-Carlson, Hospital CMN/Foundation director. “It also allows our associates to step back and listen to the patients and families express their appreciation for their care,” she said. “Listeners continually say thank you, for oftentimes they too have been touched by the multitude of programs funded through Children’s Miracle Network.” Shafto-Carlson also praised the dedication of Y106. “To put aside their normal programming for three days and commit themselves to helping local and area sick and injured children demonstrates the level of compassion they have for making a difference in our community,” she said.
