Thursday, April 24, 2014
The Miracle Fest Committee announces more than $65,000 for this 19th annual fundraiser.
This year’s Miracle Fest Auction was held at a new venue, Hotel Marshfield. More than 200 guests attended and enjoyed an array of wonderful food, raffles, silent and vocal auction and a performance by comedian John Bush to benefit Child Life Services through Children’s Miracle Network.
The program included a welcome by Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital President & Regional CEO, Brian Kief. Dr. Jill Meilahn, Marshfield Clinic Pediatric Physiatry and Pediatric Medical Director at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, also addressed the group. Hayley Patoka, Child Life Specialist, introduced Matthew Freese, one of this year’s miracle children, who again will share his story during the CMN Celebration on May 31 & June 1.
During the vocal auction, Tim Schindler, Auctioneer and Emcee, Rod Friedrichsen, entertained the group throughout the sale of 25 items. The vocal auction featured a 70” Vizio Smart TV donated by Wal-Mart in Medford, a MXB-360 crossbow from Bull’s Eye Sports, a guest meteorologist package donated by WAOW TV-9 and many more sports, vacation, and home packages.
A new twist for the silent auction bidding this year was the handheld BidPal devices. This mobile bidding allowed each attendee to bid anytime and from anywhere during the silent auction, see all item information and current bid status, receive outbid alerts and re-bid, personalize a ‘watch’ list and view the items won! The silent auction raised more than $10,000. Featured items included NFL jerseys donated by TEKsystems, a year’s worth of VIP movie passes provided by Rogers Cinema, Country USA passes from Y106.5, Park Hopper passes to Disney World, a year family membership to the YMCA, jewelry from Jim Kryshak Jewelers and much more.
The evening concluded with entertainment by John Bush, stand-up comedian.
